Life Just Isn't Fair

Life Isn't Fair - Reason number 115,687,230,432

Fuck it. I'll just quote the entire article.

Actress Kate Beckinsale says she is being starved of sex because her director husband has been too busy working.

The Underworld star said Len Wiseman had become a "virtual stranger" while working on the new Die Hard film.

Wiseman, 34, has been editing and directing Live Free or Die Hard, which sees Bruce Willis return to action as popular hard man John McClane and tackle an internet-based terrorist organisation.

"I've told him he is going to have to make it up to me. I won't let him out of bed for a month," the 33-year-old told a Sunday magazine.

Beckinsale will next appear in Vacancy, a thriller, alongside Luke Wilson. The film is out in cinemas from June 15.

Um...what? You're kidding right? Her?

Really?

What a way to start the week.

God I must of pissed somebody off high up in the food chain. I really need to pull a "My Name is Earl" and even my karma score. I think I may be busy this weekend curing cancer or some shit like that. That should help right? I mean no matter how in the red you are, (and apparently I'm in more trouble than I thought) curing cancer is the game winner.

Blog Update

26 drafts in my blog that date back to the beginning of the year. I'll make it my goal to knock a few of thouse out this week, especially the ones in the past month. I've been neglecting my faithful (and by faithful I mean bored at work...cause really....who reads this shit?) readers (it's great that I get to put an "s" at the end of that. Readership has gone up 100%! I'm a hit!) and I don't want to disappoint them.

Ok, that's it for now. Time to try and look/act busy.

The Benchwarmers

...isn't that funny. Well, it's a little funny, but not alot. It's got some laughs, but nothing gut busting. It's kinda ok, but not great, but not horrible...well it's almost horrible. (R-U confused? Could I be any more wishy washy? I probably could, but the joke's played out.) It's good for a few good laughs (most delivered by Heder), but don't make an effort to catch this one. It's the kind of movie that you watch when there's nothing really good on.
Rob Schneider is now kind of sad. He's trying to do the kind of comedy that Adam Sandler does better. Schneider can't carry a movie. He's a supporting actor at best.

John Heder had a few laughs, but now I feel is overratted (I haven't seen Blades of Glory, so I can't say that with 100% accuracy).

Oh, and I think David Spade was decent. He plays a slimeball (that word may not be right, but I can't think of a better descriptor for him) pretty well.

DID YOU SEE WHAT THEY DID HERE?

Ever look closely at the "FedEx" logo? I never noticed it until a few days ago, when somebody inadvertantly pointed it out like it was no big deal. Now, it's the first thing I look for, like that one truck is going to be different from the rest. It's becoming compulsive, like when a friend points out a mistake in a movie, and from that point on, that's the only thing you notice in that scene. Thanks alot asshole!

Oh yea, in case you haven't gotten it yet, there's an arrow between the "E" and the "x". Pretty clever, eh?. According to Wikipedia (love that site!...well why don't you marry it? I would if I could, but I can't, so I won't)

FedEx is now organized into operating units, each of which has its own version
of the wordmark, designed by Lindon Leader of Landor Associates. In all versions, the Fed is purple. The Ex is in a different color for each division. The corporate wordmark uses a grey Ex. The original "FedEx" logo saw the Ex in orange; it is now
used as the FedEx Express wordmark. The award winning FedEx wordmark is notable for containing a white, almost subliminal, right-pointing arrow between the "E" and the "X".

Wiki never lies...

It also has a link to an interview with the creator of the logo Lindon Leader.

Cool stuff.

Bill Simmons Blog

Bill Simmons Blog on ESPN's Page 2 is quickly becoming my favorite blog on the internet. He talks sports among other things. He's funny, and so far he seems pretty unbiased. The point where I really started to pay attention to his blog was when he posted this during his live blog of the 2006 NBA draft.

10:20 -- The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28. He puts his head in his hands and starts sobbing hysterically as his entourage congratulates him. It's about time we had some emotion tonight, dammit. Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.

I couldn't stop laughing. I liked it soo much that I even forwarded it on to my friends via email...and I rarely send forwards.

For the Paranoid

Here's a site that will really get your paranoia going.

Global Incident Map

Cool site that has a map showing you locations of "incidents". You can click on the icon to get more information, then it even has a url that you can click on to get a real story. Pretty cool stuff.

According to the map, America is fraked. Seriously. We should all just give out now. Look at all those litte markers. As of this post, it seems the safest place to be may be in South America. Maybe Russia? Shit, I'll take my chances in South America instead of Siberia. We'll see what changes in the next 400 seconds when it updates itself. Not sure how accurate this site is. It seems to list every "unexplained" event that most people don't here about. Still, fun little time waster.

Minka Kelly & Friday Night Lights

Since it's been week since the best new tv show had it's season (hopefully, since it hasn't been renewed yet) finale, it's time to retire Minka's picture.

Yes, cheerleader outfit time. Very quacktastic.

There's better screenshots out there, I just have to find them.

Unfortunately, I need to keep searching for pictures. There's not much out there for this chick...yet.

Here's to hoping this show gets renewed. It's too damn good not to. Come on America, stop with this American Idol bullshit, and start watching some real TV shows.

For VT

Roll Call for the Absent

In many lands and climes this April day
Proud sons of Texas A&M unite.
Our loyalty to country, school, we
pray,
and seal our pact with bond of common might.

We live again
those happy days of yore
on campus, field, in classroom, dorm, at drill
Fond memory brings a sigh -- but nothing more;
Now we are men and life’s
a greater thrill,

On Corregidor * years ago today
A band of gallant
Aggies, led by Moore,
Held simple rites which led to us doth all to say:
The spirit shall prevail through cannon roar.

Before we part and go
upon our way,
We pause to honor those we knew so well;
The old familiar
faces we miss so much today
Left cherished recollections that time cannot
dispel.

Softly call the Muster,
Let comrade answer, “Here!”
Their spirits hover ‘round us
As if to bring us cheer!

Mark them
‘present’ in our hearts.
We’ll meet some other day
There is no death,
but life etern
For our old friends such as they!

by Dr. John Ashton
c/o 1906

In honor of the victims of the shootings at Virginia Tech. The thoughts and prayers of Texas A&M as well as the nation are with you. You will be remembered at Muster.
Texican08 and his roomate get their hunting bows stolen at a ring dunking party.
The Main Thread: "Need your help texags...lets get this guy"

It's 23 pages now, but it's worth the 30 minute read to get it all up. It's scary how quickly this place works and how much information they gathered. Don't

SATURDAY, APRIL 14, 2007
Between 9:00 PM and 2:00 AM: Unidentified dew-bag shows up at friend of a friend’s ring dunking party. Having previously lost his Blackberry, said dew-bag decides to steal some stuff from the party and sell it on ebay. Dew-bag locates two bows in the garage and decides to put his plan into effect.

MONDAY, APRIL 16, 2007
Sometime Midafternoon: Ring Dunker (aka Texican) realizes his bows are gone and reports it to cops who unfortunately tell him there isn’t much that can be done. Texican formulates his own plan to scour ebay for possible Bow auctions.

Sometime after Midafternoon: Dew-bag creates two new ebay auction listings saying he has to sell bows because they are collecting dust in his attic. Texican stumbles upon said auctions and realizes, “holy ****, thats my stuff! And some dew-bag was dumb enough to put it on ebay.”

After contemplating going to the cops, Texican decided to turn to a much more efficient crime solving organization: TEXAGS.COM.

11:44 PM: Texican creates a post on Texags asking for any information or suggestions. He has the suspect’s email address from sending him a question on ebay.

11:53 PM: Texags poster, BosAg06, identifies dew-bag, by cross checking his email address with myspace. Dew-bag identified only as “Joey.”

11:55 PM: Picture of Joey is posted on the internet. Unbeknownst to Texags posters, Texican recognized Joey and immediately calls his friend who knows him to find out his info. At this point, the crime is solved, and no further investigation is required, but this is Texags, and it don't work like that.

TUESDAY, APRIL 17, 2007
12:15-16 AM: Unsatisfied with just a first name, a face, and a hometown, the Texags “stockers” carry onward. Cross-checking his hometown, first name, range of birthdates, AggieG15 joins the College Station network on Facebooks and locates a Facebook profile (after one false positive) with a full name. Joey will now be known as jQ4.

12:22 AM: jQ4, after an apparent tip from his friend that Texican was on the way, pulls down the ebay auctions and loads up the hot merchandise and hauls ass out of town. Meanwhile back at Texags, many posters begin to wonder where Texican has gone, they have found his man, and want validation.

12:24 AM: A search of Yahoo people reveals jQ4's home residence in Richardson, Texas. As well as the name of his father, and a home phone number.

12:29 AM: Texags is clamoring for contact from Texican, and has decided to turn their awesome powers to locating him.

12:37-39 AM: Using an obscure post by Texican on the Classifieds board found by DanTheMan55, Texaggers locate his email address. Texican’s personal info is found using the A&M directory. Texags poster, AggieG15, places a random call to Texican that probably goes something like this: “Hello....Yes, is this Texican from Texags?.....Uhhhhh...yeah, who is this?.....I’m a texags poster, and I just wanted to tell you that we figured out who has your bow, you gotta go check your thread!......ummm, okay, I’m already at the dudes house but thanks anyway.”

In the meantime, texag poster, Flash Goodson, displays his mad internet skilz by posting Texican’s facebook profile, which leads to the revelation that the caller’s girlfriend went to high school with him.

12:52 AM: jQ4 is also located in TAMU directory, along with address and phone number.

12:56 AM: A search of jQ4's name on google, reveals that his father is on the board of some Young Golfer’s Association, and also reveals that his father gave a ringing endorsement of something called Swish22 that apparently made jQ4 a real life hoopsta!

1:11 AM: A search of both the Collin County and Dallas County appraisal district records (Richardson is in both) reveals appraised value of the Q homestead, confirms previously posted address, confirms father name from google search, and provides mother’s name. Also provides map of location of homestead.

1:45 AM: A google search of jQ4's mother’s names reveals that she was recently elected to the Richardson school board.

1:59 AM: A modified yahoo search locates article about jQ4's mother’s involvement in the community and reveals her occupation.

2:07 AM: A search of her employer’s website reveals her email address.

2:22-24 AM: Texagger, m-walker, makes contact with Texican and receives the story on what went down. m-walker lets the Texags world know Texican is over at jQ4's house and awaiting the return of stolen bows. Also supplies the Texaggers with the alleged motive.

2:48 AM: Texican RETURNS! Tells the tale of the tip-off, and the attempted dump 90 miles outside of town. Relays the fact that he is waiting while jQ4 goes to pick-up the bows, which could take an hour and a half.

3:50 AM: After a much anticipated wait, the bow is returned to Texican. No video was taken of the return, but there was apparently no violence. jQ4 attempts to justify the theft by claiming our hero, Texican, stole his blackberry.

My favorite part: At this point, the crime is solved, and no further investigation is required, but this is Texags, and it don't work like that.

Epic thread and another reason why Texags is greatness.

Timbaland Presents: Shock Value

Been listening to this "cd" (I guess I should say album, since it's not really the cd I'm listening to) for the past few days and I'm going to go ahead and give it a thumbs up. I like it. Just about the whole damn album is pretty good. I can see where "Give It to Me" will get played out pretty quickly (almost happened over a weekend for me. Dre's on the album. Elton John is as well. Fall Out Boy even has a track on there, that after a few listens, really started to grow on me.

The only bad thing I can say about the album is that the rumored Jay-Z song isn't on there. After reading an article in EW, I'm actually hoping he releases the track Jay-Z was working on that didn't make the album due to a deadline.

Here's the beef between him and Scott Storch.

I think Storch started it with some reggaeton artist. When I figure it out, I'll come back and update this post.

Then Timbo replied with his new single "Give it To Me".

Then Storch came back with "Built Like That"

The Timbo (and D.O.E.)responded with "Piano Man"

Don't you just love Rap fueds? Funny Stuff. I liked "Piano Man". Very funny. I thought "Built Like That" was pretty week, except for the line about the "hot dogs on the back of your neck." That was pretty good. I also like Timbo and Timberlake's verses on "Give It To Me". Nelly's verse was ok.
Next up, I'm going to finally give that new Shins album a spin.

Frank Caliendo does Jim Rome

Everybody knows Frank Caliendo can do John Madden to a T, (wonder how that works since there's no "T" in John Madden...hmmm) but it wasn't untill a few days ago, I learned he does a mean Jim Rome.

Spot on Perfect.
Phe-nominal.

Funny little jpg eh? Yea.... I find it funny. That's all that really matters. That and I needed a place to put that link at the top.

SNL was actually funny this weekend?

(I had to edit the title. "SNL had another funny sketch" made it sound like they have funny sketches pretty consistently.) Some alternatives I came up with:

  • SNL & Funny Sketch: 2 Words that usually aren't found in the same sentance.
  • STOP THE PRESS!! SNL WAS FUNNY!
  • STOP THE PRESS!! SNL WAS FUNNY? (Slight variation, but I think it also works)

Anyway. SNL actually did it again. (Sad when SNL makes headlines for actually being funny) Peyton Manning helped bring the funny to SNL in the first sketch after the monologue, which is usually the "fake commercial" spot. Still, it made me laugh. Luckily, I changed the channel halfway into the next sketch. Terrible. (not Peyton's fault. He's working with shitty material.)

Peyton also decent monologue, which got pretty funny when he poked fun at his mom.

Oh yea, and who fucking knew Carrie Underwood was this hot. Jesus

Song 2 of the night.

Say what you will about the music, but she's smoking hot.

Disgusting Sights Witnessed at Wal*Mart

(That's really not from the link, I just think it's funny and awful at the same time.)

It's a funny thread going on at Something Awful that should help you waste more coporate dollars by being unproductive.

As funny as this is, I enjoy my Wal*Mart outtings. Seriously. I can stand it so I don't have to pay an extra dollar on milk and OJ (is it capatilzed? periods? It looks like I'm referring to the ex-football playing murderer) and things like that. Ok well, moving on.

"If for some reason you ever feel bad about yourself, just go to Wal*Mart and you can say to yourself, "At least I'm not that guy."

True story. I also like to make mental notes on how not to be a parent. But that's putting the cart before the hoors. DO YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE!?!

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END

Loved the first one. Surprise hit of the summer and a ruckin (ruckin? rockin?...whatever. New word, or a little West Texas comin' thru?) good time. Thought the second one was a little bloated, but still a fun time. This one looks to rock the shit.

Damn this summer keeps getting better with movies.

YOUR HEAD A SPLODE!

A quirky cheap (as in not very high tech, as opposed to a cheating computer) little game, sort of like a Pong meets Block Out. The best part is when you die. Love the games that don't translate well.

You tell em Acies coming...

and Hell's coming with him.

All right, Calipari... you called down the thunder, well now you've got it! You see that? It says Texas A&M! [referring to Penn & Louisville, laying dead] Take a good look at him, Calipari... 'cause that's how you're gonna end up! The Tigers are finished, you understand? I see a Memphis jersey, I kill the man wearin' it! So run, you cur... RUN! Tell all the other curs the law's comin'! You tell 'em I'M coming... and hell's coming with me, you hear?... Hell's coming with me!

Great thread at the Texas Basketball Forum where the farker's (mainly Cuppycup) are at it again. That's the original picture, which by itself is pretty badass.

Here are some of my favorites.

That one's my favorite. Check out this link, for it to be set to the Jaws music.

That reminds me, I'll have to find and post the links to the "Fran needs a 'Stache" thread and the "Billy Gillispie is a Rockstar". Those are fun reads.

9 Confessions From A Former Enterprise Rental Salesman

The Consumerist has a great article on how to not get screwed over when renting a car. It's a pretty good read and has some great tips for people to use, cause face it, everybody will have to get a rental car at some point in thier life.

Anyways, I just found the Consumerist website, and I'm kinda scanning through it. Seems like a cool site.

Bringing the Funny

Apparently this email has been making the rounds, but I found it on a message board and couldn't stop laughing. Soo good I had to blog it. Yea, you know when I blog it...it's quality.

You may need to click on the pictures to get the biggest size. Still, I think it's worth your trouble.
Yea, this one's not that funny. It's still pretty good.

This one had me rolling. Fucking elephant.
This one kept me laughing. Started bringing out the tears.
This one made me laugh so hard I was crying.

Still kinda funny.
Damn, I guess it's Walt Witman's fault. And to think, we used to blame Pangea! (I think exactly one person will get that joke. Still, I use it anyway. I'm not scared. Anyways... let's continue.

HAHAHAHAHAH
Smartass.
Captain Obvious, I presume?
Yea, that one's not that great.

I read these on another message board and had to go outside to control myself I was laughing so hard. Great stuff.
For even more funny, check out Maddox's post on "I am better than your kids". Maddox grades kids artwork. Hilarity ensues.

So Where the Hell Have You Been?

I don't remember you looking that good. I don't remember you with that rack. When did that happen? It might be time for that Playboy spread to help "revive" your career. Wait...should I have put the quotes around revive, or around career? Eh, probably works either way.

Recently Added Playlist

Keep an eye out for the new Arcade Fire "Neon Bible". It's the follow up to the first cd "Funeral", which quickly became one of my all time favorites. Yea, I thought it was that good.
The cd has leaked (all 11 songs) and they sound great. While I don't think they've surpased their previous effort, this is a worthy follow up and there is no "sophomore slump". The pipe organ is a nice touch, and it doesn't sound goth at all. After 2-3 "spins" there's a few songs that stand out. Keep the motor running reminds me immediately of National Lampoon's Vacation. Hell, the very last song "My Body is a Cage" is one that I innitially didn't like, but found it stuck in my head when I woke up. Strange.

Anyway, the cd is due March 6. I'm picking it up. Day 1 purchase.

The Life and Times of Cash McMogulson – Chapter 5

2 Quick Thoughts

From this morning's train ride to work.

Hey greying balding old guy wearing kahki cargo pants and riding a souped up razor scooter. Really? A Razor scooter? What the hell is this, high school 1998? Thanks for the laugh buddy.

Hey fat girl, come are you ticklish? Yea I called you fat...(alright enough of the song)...you have to turn sideways to go down steps. What the hell is that? I wouldn't minde, but you did it in slo fraking motion. Jeez, pick up the pace already. I've seen this happen a few times before. Sometimes that person, actually they are usually women, is older although that wasn't the case this morning. You know, I think I figured out the ultimate test to decide if your fat, and I mean fat as not in the good way. When you have to go down steps 1 at a time, sideways, you got problems. I wouldn't be soo mad, if she didn't stop outside the door and continue to block everybody's path.

EDIT: I "drafted this yesterday, just to get it off my chest. Today, although I feel a little bad, I'm posting it anyway.

Pink Hard Hats

Why is it soo satisfying to give out pink hard hats to visitors to our jobsite? Why is it even more satisfying to give out pink hard hats to architects that visit our jobsite? Is it just me that gets a kick outta that? I even made a big deal about getting somebody's license so that they would be returned. "Oh, we'll be returning these" said one of the architects. Then I explained to them that we had a box (at least one, probably 2) of hot pink hard hats (the picture above is what we had now...I say had cause we're down to 2 or 3) and all of those have "walked off".

Somebody, somewhere has a trunk full of hard hats, both the nice Walton ones as well as the hot pink ones from our job. I've got a pretty good idea who it is.
