Jay-Z + Radiohead

Brings you Jaydiohead by Minty Fresh Beats

Go to the site, download it. It's free. It's a mash up (yea, I thought we were done with the Jay's Black album mashups), but this is just as good as Dangermouse Grey Album.

Rocknrolla

You need to see this if you liked Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels and Snatch. It's another good British Crime Thriller. It's also pretty freaking funny.

Also, from the movie, comes this song, Rock and Roll Queen from The Subways. It's featured pretty prominently in the movie, and in the trailers (which oddly enough, I haven't seen in a while). Anyways, here's the video I found on Youtube. I'm off to go look for the entire album. Not sure if I go with the movie soundtrack, or their album.

After a little research, it turns out I have this song already. Twice in fact, once from The O.C. Mix 5 and the other one is from an Ultimate fan made O.C. mix. Ooops. I still may have to get their albums anyway.

Thriller (Long Vers.)

Looks like MTV has started up a new site where you can see every video they've ever had. Guess this is the only way we'll get music from MTV. Take what we can get. I've been using YouTube for this, but these seem to be of higher quality and you don't have to sort through the bullshit fan made stuff.

Let's watch Thriller....cause it's the shit.

New John Legend

Started listening to this today....finally bootlegged it last night (yes I'm buying the album when it comes out)

So far...so good. It's a bit different from his previous 2 albums. It's definitely got Kanye's fingerprints on it. Pretty radio friendly, so expect to hear more songs on the radio from this album. Greenlight was good, but I think there are definitely more singles they could pull off this.

Vampire Weekend

Little late to the party, but I bet I'm still ahead of half of you.

Great album that's getting worn out (as much as it can on a digital music player...but hey, you get my point.

Pretty much the entire album is good.

Here some of the videos I've found on Youtube to let you make your own decision. Probably the best songs on the album. At least they're my favorites.

The Roots at House of Blues

Going to see The Roots tonight at the House of Blues, and I'm beyond pumped. Today's pretty much a wasted day at work, as I've gotten the bare minimum done.
I've been waiting on this show for a while now, and the past 2 days have just crawled by.

It's the second time I'll be going to the House of Blues. I went about a month ago to see Shinedown (who?), but that was more about checking out the place than the music. I think I may have had a post about....or I just never finished it. Gotta check.

All I know is that they better play "The Seed", or I'll be disappointed.

Tomorrow's another day I'm looking forward to, as A&M is playing Miami on National TV, and while I'm a little nervous, I really think we can win, which will help our teams confidence and really springboard us into conference play.

Kanye West's Graduation

First off, which is the correct album cover? I do like the first one more, as it keeps the continuity going.

Early listen to the album coming out next Tuesday (which I guess would make this sorta ice cold....but then it's been leaked for about a week, so we're back to being piss warm...all depends on your point of view, eh Old Man Kenobi?)

I've got Homecoming (with Chris Martin....Coldplay guy) stuck in my head and quickly has become my favorite track. Stronger is the single you've probably already heard. I like it, but then again, i'm not quite tired of it, as I haven't listened (scratch that, don't listen) to the radio all that much. Champion is another pretty solid song, although it's got a bit in the chorus that I can see getting anyong (Hello!). The song that really caught my attention though was Big Brother, where he raps about Jay-Z. Pretty cool song. I wasn't all that impressed with Can't Tell Me Nothing. Not even the remix did anything for me on the 1st listen. We'll see what happens after a few more spins.

Looks like Kanye's got another hit on his hands. I am curious to see if his CD or 50's will sell better next week. I haven't heard anything of of 50's new one, Curtis.

Live at Radio City

This one came as a surprise to me as I haven't really heard anything about it until a few days before it's release. It's another Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds cd, which I guess is a follow up to the Live at Luther College cd they made, which happens to be one of my all time favorites (seriously, it's the top 5 for sure, and probably in the top 3).

While I'm sad to see one of my all time favorite songs on their (Satellite), but it looks like alot of the classics, including Crash, are on there and it seems that there are plenty of newer DMB songs as well. I was, however, hoping to see a "All Along the Watchtower" version with just Dave and Tim, as the DMB cover is probably my favorite (yes, it edges out Jimi's...)

Looking forward to giving this a listen as soon as I can clear out a few more Podcasts.

Timbaland Presents: Shock Value

Been listening to this "cd" (I guess I should say album, since it's not really the cd I'm listening to) for the past few days and I'm going to go ahead and give it a thumbs up. I like it. Just about the whole damn album is pretty good. I can see where "Give It to Me" will get played out pretty quickly (almost happened over a weekend for me. Dre's on the album. Elton John is as well. Fall Out Boy even has a track on there, that after a few listens, really started to grow on me.

The only bad thing I can say about the album is that the rumored Jay-Z song isn't on there. After reading an article in EW, I'm actually hoping he releases the track Jay-Z was working on that didn't make the album due to a deadline.

Here's the beef between him and Scott Storch.

I think Storch started it with some reggaeton artist. When I figure it out, I'll come back and update this post.

Then Timbo replied with his new single "Give it To Me".

Then Storch came back with "Built Like That"

The Timbo (and D.O.E.)responded with "Piano Man"

Don't you just love Rap fueds? Funny Stuff. I liked "Piano Man". Very funny. I thought "Built Like That" was pretty week, except for the line about the "hot dogs on the back of your neck." That was pretty good. I also like Timbo and Timberlake's verses on "Give It To Me". Nelly's verse was ok.
Next up, I'm going to finally give that new Shins album a spin.

Recently Added Playlist

Keep an eye out for the new Arcade Fire "Neon Bible". It's the follow up to the first cd "Funeral", which quickly became one of my all time favorites. Yea, I thought it was that good.
The cd has leaked (all 11 songs) and they sound great. While I don't think they've surpased their previous effort, this is a worthy follow up and there is no "sophomore slump". The pipe organ is a nice touch, and it doesn't sound goth at all. After 2-3 "spins" there's a few songs that stand out. Keep the motor running reminds me immediately of National Lampoon's Vacation. Hell, the very last song "My Body is a Cage" is one that I innitially didn't like, but found it stuck in my head when I woke up. Strange.

Anyway, the cd is due March 6. I'm picking it up. Day 1 purchase.

Road Trip Music

So, Tuesday night befor I left, I stopped by Best Buy for some new music. Needed to make sure I had plenty of new stuff to listen to on my way down to Laredo.

Jay-Z - Kingdom Come
Another good to great album (The Black Album I consider to be Excellent). There's a few songs that I already love. "Do U Wanna Ride", with John Legend has quickly become my favorite, followed by "Anything" with "Us-her-Ra-ym-ond, Skateboard P and the J to the A to the Y to the Z." The Dre track 30 Something is also pretty good. Hollywood with Beyonce I like, but it's got a showtune chorus, so I'm not sure how manly you can be singing to that one. Either way, it's catchy as hell. Really good album and I highly recommend it.

Snoop Dogg - Blue Carpet Treatment
Sadly, I'm not that impressed with the Dre & Snoop track "Imagine". "Vato" with B-Real and "That's That Shit" with R Kelly are the singles you've probably heard, and they're both good. The 2 songs with Akon, "Boss Life" and "I Wanna Fuck You" are probably getting the most play from me. "LAX" with Cube is pretty good as is Gangbangin 101 with name dropper himself The Game. Overall, i'm happy with this release from Snoop.

Regina Spektor - Begin to Hope
Man o' man is this a nice album. Fidelity has to have one of, if not the most cathiest hook there is. Love that..A ah A ah.. aw hell I don't know how to type that out. Just look it up on Myspace or something. It's pretty good. Samson is another song I had previously heard from her that I also really liked. She's a singer songwriter, very much in the vain of Fionna Apple i think, although she's not as emotionally conflicted. I'll have to check, but I think "Hotel Song" is another one I liked.

Thanks to my friend Matt for writing about her in his blog Stay Classy Dallas and giving us a download. I like that you introduce me to new music, and yet you probably don't know it yet.

Up next, I'm hoping to get to Beck's "The Information", along with Chingy's "Hoodstar" as well as some other one's I've downloaded: Ok Go and Neutral Milk Hotel. I think I'll end up getting Incubus' "Light Grenades" before I make another music post.

3 More Cd Recommendations

Alright, time to talk about what I've been listening to lately. I finally bought an external hard drive about 3 weeks ago, so after moving some stuff around, I finally had space to rip new Cd's to my Ipod. I've bought quite a few Cd's lately, many on release day, but due to limited hard drive space, I haven't had a chance to listen to them. These 3 were ones that I really was curious to hear.
The Roots - Game Theory:
I've been a fan of the roots since Phrenology. The single "The Seed 2.0" became an instant favorite of mine and still occupies a top spot in my "Most Often Played" playlist. I came to love that Cd. I was a little disappointed in The Tipping Point, partially because I had high expectations for it, but also for the uneveness of the cd. The single "Don't Say Nothin' " was great as was "Be Cool". I think Game Theory is better than Tipping Point, but not as good as Phrenology. The cd starts out great, lags a bit in the middle, then finishes up strong (look out for "Can't Stop This". I really need to give this cd a few more listens, and give star ratings to my favorite songs so I can remember the names.
John Legend - Once Again

Probably my favorite new artist of last year, I loved "Get Lifted" the first time I heard it. "I Can Change" is the most often played song on my music collection (of course, this is all since I started using an Ipod and Itunes). I was eagerly anticipating John Legend's newest album, and I say it doesn't disappoint. While I think "Get Lifted" had more of an R&B flavor (or in this case, shouldn't I say flava), Once Again seems to lean to more towards the soul genre. I talked about "Save Room" back when it was released as a single. While still great, I think PDA has become my favorite song of the album. The tune was stuck in my head for weeks and it seems to have found it's way to my MySpace (there's got to be a better way to stay that). Stereo is also another personal favorite with a very infectious chorus (damn that sounds like a medical problem).

Audioslave - Revelations

Audioslave is probably the most consistent, and arguably the best band out there right now. The past 2 cd's were great and you could easily listen to them all the way through. I'm sure by now you've heard "Original Fire". While it's a great single, "Like a Stone" from the first album is still my favorite by the band (there's an interesting story that goes along with Like a Stone, that I'll save for another time). Anyway, the entire cd is pretty damn good. This time, the bad goes a little more soulful, instead of straight rock. It's a nice change a pace, without deviating too much. Tom Morello's solos have also been toned down, and blend into the song alot better than before. A worthy cd to pickup, even at full price.

Up next....I've been listening to the new acoustic album from the Foo Fighters, "Skin and Bones", as well as Lupe Fiasco's "Food & Liquor". I also plan to get The Game's "Doctor's Advocate this week as well."
